Winter Season Challenge for Sensitive Skin
The skin is a protective organ of variable thickness between the eyelids and palms. It is composed of 70% water, 27.5% protein, 2% fat and 0.5% minerals (micronutrients). Its structure consists of a stratum corneum, a constituent of the epidermis and a film hydrolipidic. The latter regulates sebum and protects us from any bacteria and allergens.
The skin is divided into three parts.
The epidermis is about 0.1 mm thick. Cells are born beneath it and are subsequently replace the dead cells on the surface of the skin. The epidermis consists mainly of two types of cells, keratinocytes (80 to 90%) and melanocytes. It renews itself constantly, every 21 to 28 days. It is our barrier against external aggressions.
The dermis is the centerpiece of the skin, it is between 1 and 2 mm thick. Located under the skin, it contains fiber “tensors” such as collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans. It provides support to the skin and its nutrition. The microcirculation occurs in the term covered many blood vessels.
The hypodermis stores calories and protects us from the cold. He participates in thermoregulation. It consists mainly of fat cells, adipocytes.
Definition of sensitive skin.
Sensitive skin is skin that reacts to certain factors, where usually other skins remain unaffected.
There is a difference between skin allergies and sensitive skins.
If skin sensitivity is hereditary or related to a specific trigger, we put in an allergic skin problems. These events are known as hives, eczema or atopic dermatitis.
These factors (endogenous and exogenous) will be considered by the fragile skin as real attacks while for other skins, they will be ineffective. The wind, cold, hard water … can cause discomfort such as skin gnawing and burning sensations. These sensations are called subjective, unpleasant and abnormal. They may manifest as redness (not plates), tolerance to irritants is very low. The epidermal barrier is no longer a protective role.
All skin types can be fragile, dry skin to oily skin. However, it is however noted that the skins are thin and clear the most affected. The hypersensitivity of black skin is also significantly increased in Western countries. It speaks of “demerit skin. The climate phenomena accentuate discomfort, twinges and tingling. The black skin dehydrates almost instantly, the humidity is not adequate.
These inflammations, even casual, cause an increase in free radicals and therefore, premature aging. The skins are more fragile quickly confronted with problems of skin elasticity. They age faster.
Daily care must be applied regularly to reform the lipid barrier. They must necessarily include humectants (eg glycerin) and active anti-dehydration (eg Shea, olives, aloe vera).
The endogenous and exogenous factors.
Exogenous factors, dehydration instant.
The cold: the cold causes real damage to the skin. When skin is exposed, there is constriction of blood vessels at the extremities of our body. This causes instant dry skin due to lack of irrigation. The enzyme activity is reduced. Dead cells accumulate on the skin. She choked. The skin becomes wrinkled and dehydrated. Sebum is found in insufficient quantities. The water content of the skin is abnormally low. Frostbite and cracks may appear.
The sun, the sun is also a false friend. When skin is exposed, it produces in excess of keratin. The epidermis thickens and loses its elasticity. The skin may, as with the cold, becoming rough. Some of them also developing brown spots. Seborrheic activity and decrease, Laus evacuates epidermal layers and is more restrained properly. The skin becomes dehydrated.
The wind, the wind increases heat loss from the human body. It dries the skin and dehydrated because of the constant renewal of air.
Thermal shock: abrupt changes in temperature between inside and outside, can cause an immediate reaction on sensitive skin. The conflicts are quickly felt.
Water calcareous limestone form small crystals that are irritating the skin. A decoy “too hard” leads to stagnation of scale in pipes. The latter being the bearer of bacteria. It can cause skin diseases.
Change too often cosmetics, a frequent change of cosmetics can cause a total intolerance. The skin is too sensitive and becomes perfect.
Endogenous factors, viola stress and shortcomings!
Stress: the term “stress” comes from the English word “to stress” meaning “to voltage. In the Latin etymology of “stringers” means tight hurry. According to Hans Selye, stress is divided into three phases: the normal stress, stress, pathological and biological responses.
Consequences of Stress:
Phase 1 alarm.
Increase alertness and concentration, ‘increased heart rate and breathing, sweating, causing headaches, digestive problems, feeling his legs cut off, mouth dryness.
Phase 2, resistance.
Release of catecholamines and glucocorticoids which causes high blood pressure, dilated vessels, reddening, decompensation of the already installed disorders such as eczema, psoriasis.
Phase 3, break
Autonomic reaction causing fatigue, insomnia, backache, organic disorders, irritability, withdrawal relational
Too much repetition of Phase 2 in everyday life leads to stress too much the blood vessels on the face. These diffuse redness weaken the skin barrier and may in the long term, triggering a final rosacea. But other factors may cause redness: a simple strong emotion, a tendency to blush due to heightened emotionality, and blood vessels suffer the same solicitation.
Of course, one person will not always emotionally sensitive skin. But in the long run, it will be part of people to watch.
Deficiencies.
Deficiencies in vitamins and omega can also aggravate the sensitivity of fragile skin. A deficiency in omega 3 and 6 can lead to impaired lipid barrier function, a significant water loss, desquamation, severe dry skin. Some supplements can rebalance the film hydrolipidic more cosmetic treatments necessary. These capsules will help the skin to restore its ability to retain water, and much more.
Clinical manifestations.
The delicate skins subjected to daily stressors. The resulting skin reactions, most often, redness and other clinical manifestations.
Rosacea.
As rosacea is a skin problem not contagious. For years, the association is wrong to alcoholism. Acne. Today, the Rosacea is treated as dermatitis. It is manifested by facial flushing, on very targeted areas as the chin, data, cheeks and can even affect the eyes. These rashes appear and then disappear. But over time, they can become very frequent. They are sometimes accompanied by small blood vessels. Rosacea should be treated absolutely treated by a doctor or dermatologist to reduce its development. If any medication is prescribed, plates, buttons and unsightly bumps may appear.
Rosacea is a very common illness, it primarily affects women who have reached pale skin and a particularly clear. It may be released in 25 years. We find most frequently between 35 and 50 years.
The first signs of rosacea are redness of the first periodic and increasingly frequent. Then, small bumps or blisters appear red. The skin appears irritated and rough. It is dry on the area of life. These rodents can be accompanied by tightness and burning. Rosacea can occur on the scalp, on the stroke behind the ears. This type of skin mandate medical treatment and special care. The daily care cosmetics must be sweet and contain no irritating agent. We must clean the skin with a soap-free, moisturized and protected with creams days. Rosacea dries the skin, so it is necessary to take care cosmetics very moisturizing and soothing with a formulation must avoid all creams containing alcohol and fruit acids.
Caution: only cosmetic substitute for any medical treatment.
Xerosis.
Xerosis is the manifestation of dry skin that reacts to external factors such as wind cold. This a very common phenomenon. The skin a rough, scaling, dehydrated. It takes, songs, tingling. This type of skin must be nourished imperative to limit skin disorders such as major cracks or fissures. A skin is too dry facilitates the introduction of bacteria in the skin tissue.
The origin of xerosis may be variable:
aging skin (decreased skin, water loss)
actors external hot-cold
deficiencies (zinc, magnesium, protein, fatty acids, vitamins)
medical treatment.
